Aguilar named Bulldogs Baseball Assistant Coach
Dallas native Josh Aguilar has been named assistant coach for the Holmes Community College Bulldogs.
"Talking to Scott for the first time I really liked his vision on Holmes," Aguilar said on why he made the move to Holmes. "The thought of winning a conference championship and going to the World Series are things that really motivated me."
He said he plans to bring "a championship mindset, a relentless work ethic and positive energy every day" to the Bulldogs.
Aguilar comes to Holmes from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where he coached for three seasons. The Trojans won their first conference championship during the 2024 season, which happened to be Aguilar's first as a full-time assistant coach. He had served the previous two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach and graduate manager.
Aguilar coached Jake Wright who was on the Buster Posey watch list during the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
He joined the Trojans after spending three seasons as a member of the Henderson State baseball team from 2017-19, making 69 starts in 88 career games as a catcher for the Reddies. Aguilar posted a .280 career batting average with five home runs and 45 RBI, helping lead Henderson State to its first Great American Conference Championship in 2021 as well as an NCAA Regional.
Aguilar spent his freshman season at Louisiana after being named a three-time first team all-district selection at Bishop Lynch High School.
He earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Henderson State in 2021 and received a master's degree in sports management from Little Rock in 2023.
