Bulldogs fall to East Mississippi Lions, 49-0
SCOOBA --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs fell to 2-5 overall and 1-3 in the North Division with a 49-0 loss to East Mississippi here Thursday night.
East Mississippi jumped out to a 28-0 lead in the first half and scored 21 in the second half to pull out the North Division win.
The Lions scored on their first drive when Preston Baker scored from a yard out. Drew White's extra point put East up 7-0 with 12:10 left in the first quarter.
East scored again on their next drive when Chad Kelly found Baker from nine yards out. White's extra point made the score 14-0 with 8:10 left to play in the first quarter.
Kelly then passed for two more scores before halftime when he found Allenzae Staggers from nine yards out with 5:19 left in the second quarter and Desmond Goss from 16 yards out with 21 seconds left. White's extra points made the score 28-0 at halftime.
The Lion defense put six points on the board in the third when D.J. Jones stripped Bulldog running back Mitchell Cunningham of the ball and William Lloyd ran the ball in from 18 yards out for the score. White's extra point made the score 35-0 with 13:33 to play in the third.
Kelly scored a rushing touchdown when he powered his way in from 13 yards out. White's extra point made the score 42-0 with 10:37 remaining in the third.
Backup quarterback Wyatt Roberts connected with Camion Patrick from 13 yards out with 6:42 left in the game to end all scoring when White connected on the extra point.
Aquindus Henson led the Bulldog offense with 45 yards on 10 carries while Jalen Thomas had 37 yards on 13 carries and Michael Howard had 20 yards on six carries. Odell Spencer and Andrew Walker each had seven tackles while Mohamed Camara, Traver Jung and Jamal Veazey each had six. Theron Hodges had a sack and a tackle for loss while Jung added a tackle for loss. Ryhean McMorris had one interception.
