Bulldogs go to 3-1 on the season with a 72-58 win over the Warriors
DECATUR --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs went to 3-1 on the season with a 72-58 win over the East Central Community College Warriors here Monday night.

A Travis Johnson layup with 18:57 to play put the Bulldogs up 4-0 in the game. The Bulldogs led 10-7 with 15:12 to go before Keivondre Watford brought the Warriors to 10-9 on a layup with 14:50 to play in the first half. East Central then took an 11-10 lead when Chris Rhoney made two free throws with 14 minutes to play in the half.
Two free throws and a bucket from DeAndre Scott put Holmes back up 14-13 and then 16-13 on a Scott layup seconds later. Kelvin Smith and Johnson each had a layup to put the Bulldogs up 20-13 with 10:47 to play in the half. East Central's Hakeem Wesley's two free throws made the score 23-21 with 3:58 to play in the half. Holmes led 32-24 at halftime.
A Kenitric Gillum layup and a free throw with 17:50 to go moved the lead to nine points at 37-28, and that's as close as the Warriors would get in the second half. Demarcus Lewis scored with 5:20 to play to move the lead to 19 points at 65-46.
Gillum led the Bulldogs with 18 points while Lewis had 17 and Scott had 15. Johson and Lewis each had six rebounds.
