Bulldogs fall to Wildcats, 76-71

GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs held an early 11-point lead over the Pearl River Community College Wildcats here Monday, but Pearl River battled back to take a one-point lead at halftime and went on to defeat the Bulldogs, 76-71.

With the loss, the Bulldogs fell to 4-2 on the season. Holmes travels to Utica on Thursday night to play the Hinds Community College Bulldogs. The game can be heard at 101.1 FM or on breezynews.com. 

Holmes jumped out early to hold a 12-1 lead in the first five minutes of the game, but after a back and forth battle in the first half, Pearl River held a 42-41 lead at halftime. The teams swapped lead changes throughout the second half before Pearl River pulled away in the final minute and a half to pull out the win.

Jarvis Williams led the Bulldogs in scoring with 15 points while Patrick Banks added 14, Tamarico Wilson had 13 and Dayshawn Watkins had 10. Banks led the Bulldogs with nine rebounds.

Last Thursday in Goodman, Banks led the Bulldogs to a 87-62 win over the Meridian Community College Eagles. He had 12 rebounds in the game as well. Justin McCleary and Tamarico Wilson each had 10 points.
