GOODMAN --- Holmes Community College freshman guard Daryl Macon poured in 32 points and eight rebounds here Thursday night to lead the Bulldogs to a 90-66 North Division opening-win over the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers.
With the win, the Bulldogs went to 5-4 overall and 1-0 in the North Division. Holmes travels to Coahoma on Monday night to finish first semester play at 8 p.m.
Holmes led 51-33 at halftime and then outscored Northwest 39-33 in the second half. Holmes led by as many as 26 points with 9:54 to play in the game.
Out of Macon's 32 points, he had four three-pointers and was 12-of-14 from the free throw line. Dietrich Taylor had 17 points and nine rebounds while Cedric Harper had five points and 10 rebounds and two blocks.
The Bulldogs shot 49 percent from the floor including 53.8 from behind the arc while Northwest shot 37 percent from the floor and 22 percent from the behind the arc.
