Holmes to host first-ever MACJC All-Star Soccer Game for men's and women's soccer

Holmes Community College, JucoWeekly, the Mississippi Army National Guard and Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center are teaming up to present the first-ever MACJC Men's and Women's All-Star Soccer Game.

The All-Star games have been set for Nov. 16 at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland. In the event the MACJC has a representative that qualifies for the NJCAA national tournament, the MACJC all-star game will be postponed to the Saturday following the NJCAA national tournament.

The women's game is set for 2 p.m. with the men to follow at 4:30 p.m.

Only second-year players are eligible to participate in the game. No freshman will be allowed to compete in the game. Each team will consist of 16 players. Each school will select two of its own players from both the men's and women's teams to participate in the game.

The All-Star coach, whose team finishes fourth in each division, will serve as coach. The All-Star coach will then select the players to fill the remainder of the roster no later than 14 days before the date of the All-Star game. If a coach is selected to coach more than one team in the All-Star Game that coach will choose which team he or she would like to coach and the other team will be coached by the coach of the team that finished in fifth place.

There will be no cost to the participating colleges except they must provide travel for their student athletes to and from the games.
