South wins both All-Star Soccer Matches over the North; 2-0 in women’s and 2-1 in men’s

RIDGELAND --- The South Division of the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges made history Saturday by winning both the first-ever men's and women's All-Star soccer matches over the North Division. The South women won 2-0 while the South men won 2-1 here at Freedom Ridge Park.
Jones County Junior College's Kelsey Cochran got the scoring started for the South Division in the women's match in the 23rd minute when she scored off an assist from Meridian's Taylor Hanes. Hanes ended all scoring in the match when she added a goal in the 41st minute. She took a rebound off a missed shot and kicked it in to make the score 2-0.
Most Valuable Players were Danielle Craft of Gulf Coast, representing the South, and Alana Turner of East Central, representing the North.
Players for the South Division included: Chelsea Parsons, Pearl River; Taylor Hanes, Meridian; Kristen Morris, Meridian; Laurel Riebock, Jones; Brianna Medina, Gulf Coast; Brittany Farrar, Jones; Jessica St. Pierre, Southwest; Danielle Craft, Gulf Coast; Magen Rogers, Southwest; Miller Watkins, Meridian; Merrick Watkins, Meridian; Torri Ladd, Pearl River; Anna Donnelly, Copiah-Lincoln; Kaitlyn Polk, Meridian; and Kelsey Cochran, Jones. Injured and unable to play was Daniela Orozco from Copiah-Lincoln. Kacy Mixon of Pearl River was unable to attend.
Players for the North Division included: Alana Turner, East Central; Emily Williams, Northwest; Bree Francis, Northwest; Paige Gower, East Central; Katie Proctor, Itawamba; Liz Petro, Holmes; Alex Young, Northwest; Jordan Meadows, Hinds; Sekinah Brown, Holmes; Victoria Burnham, Hinds; Kennedy Castleberry, East Central; Jenna Ceravolo, Holmes; Morgan Sandifer, Hinds; Amber Carruth, Itawamba; Robin Cooper, Hinds; and Emily Chastain, Holmes.
In the men's match, Gulf Coast's Taylor Stokes scored in the eighth minute off an assist from Jones County's Jamarcus Ducksworth to put the South up 1-0. Jones County's Kevin Ndongo scored in the 57th minute to give the South the 2-0 lead. The North scored in the 69th minute on a goal by Holmes' James Oliver and an assist by Hinds' Nathan Miley.
Most Valuable Players were Dylan Garrett of Pearl River, representing the South and Gnande Zleh of Northwest, representing the North.

Injured and unable to play was Hunter Warren of Holmes.
