Dierra Gilmore three-pointer at the buzzer lifts Lady Bulldogs to 73-70 win

GOODMAN --- Lady Bulldog sophomore Dierra Gilmore hit a three-pointer from the top of the key as the horn sounded here Monday night to lift the Lady Bulldogs to a 73-70 win and season sweep of the Northeast Mississippi Community College Lady Tigers.

The Lady Bulldogs got the final possession of the game and left the ball in the hands of Gilmore, who was closely guarded for five seconds, let the ball go just before the horn sounded giving the Lady Bulldogs the win. After the shot, Gilmore dropped to her knees in celebration. With the win, the Lady Bulldogs went to 14-3 overall and 7-1 in the North Division.

The Lady Bulldogs went up 15-5 with 16 minutes to play on a Kierra Gilmore three pointer. The lead grew to 20-7 after an Amber Clay shot down low with 13:59 to play in the first half, and the lead went to 15 points after two free throws from Dierra Gilmore with 10 minutes to play. The Lady Tigers then began battling their way back at that point and brought the score to 45-41 at the half.

Holmes increased the lead to 13 points with 14 minutes to play on a bucket by Amber Clay. Northeast's Kebrina Lucas hit four consecutive shots for the Lady Tigers and brought the Lady Bulldog lead to 57-56. Holmes took the lead back to eight on a three-pointer by Kierra Gilmore with five minutes and two free throws from Kierra Gilmore after a technical four on Northeast Coach Brian Alexader fifteen seconds later. Northeast tied the game at 68 with 2:38 to play on two free throws from Anna Brooke Page. They later took the 70-68 lead on two free throws from Amber Jackson before Kierra Anderson tied the game with one minute to play.

The game was tied with 33.3 seconds to play.

Kierra Gilmore led the Lady Bulldogs with 27 points including six three-pointers while Dierra Gilmore finished with 14 and Louise Collins had 12. Dierra Gilmore led in rebounds with eight while Jessica Miles had seven and Kierra Anderson had six.
