Lady Bulldogs trail majority of game but come out on top versus Lady Rangers, 77-73
GOODMAN --- The Northwest Mississippi Community College Lady Rangers led by as many as 11 in Thursday night's game here, but the Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs got things turned around inside of three minutes to pull out the 77-73 North Division win in the final home game of the year.
With the win, the Lady Bulldgos went to 16-4 overall and 9-2 in the North Division with the win. The Lady Bulldogs finish up the regular season on Thursday at Itawamba at 6 p.m.
With 4:10 left in the first half of play, the Lady Rangers went up by 10 on a bucket by Brittany Patton. The increased the lead to 11 with two minutes to play at 44-33 on a three-pointer from Shaquilla Isom. The Lady Bulldogs pulled to within seven at 44-37 at halftime.
Early in the second half, the Lady Bulldogs pulled within three several times in the first few minutes of the second half. Kierra Anderson's two free throws cut it to 48-45 with 16 minutes to play before the Lady Rangers went back up to as many as nine. The Lady Bulldogs then took the lead on a three-pointer from Kierra Gilmore with 2:30 to play. After a brief lead by the Lady Rangers, the Lady Bulldogs took over for good on a two-point bucket from Dierra Gilmore with 2:16 to play.
Dierra Gilmore led the Lady Bulldogs with 21 points while Kierra Gilmore had 15 and Kierra Anderson and Louise Collins each had 11 each. Kierra Anderson led in rebounds with nine while Louise Collins added eight.
