Lady Bulldog squad features 13 freshmen
GOODMAN --- The 2013-14 Holmes Community College Lady Bulldog basketball team features 13 freshmen this season after going 10-13 overall and 5-7 in the North Division last season.
Freshmen newcomers include: Sequa Young, a 5'5 guard from Indianola, who averaged 6.1 points per game and 3.3 rebounds per game; Brandi Carter, a 5.7 guard from Moreno Valley, Calif., who averaged 13.4 points per game and 5.7 rebounds per game; Carmesha Nalls, a 4'4 guard from Lexington, who averaged 22.5 points per game and 6.6 rebounds per game; Vonkesha Miller, a 5'6 guard from Weir, averaged 17.1 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game; Taylor Johnson, 6' forward from Memphis, 17.7 points per game and 12.4 per game; Desirae Harris, a 5'3 guard from Winona, averaged 22.1 points per game and 4.6 rebounds per game; Alexis Jackson, a 5'7 guard from Indianola, averaged 4.3 points per game and 1.8 rebounds per game; Tayanna Purnell, a 5'8 forward from Coffeeville, averaged 21 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game; Tonidra Blair, a 6'1 post from Cleveland, averaged 7.1 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game; Ti'Abre Watts, a 5'5 guard from Memphis, averaged 8.6 points per game and 2.5 rebounds per game; LaShonda Wilson, a 6'2 post from Indianola, averaged 4.6 points per game and 4.7 rebounds per game; Laricka Morgan, a 5'10 forward from Morton, averaged 11.4 points per game and 8.2 rebounds per game; and Jamieca Sheriff, a 5'11 post from Jackson, averaged 8.6 points per game and 7.4 rebounds per game.
Jamilah Andrews returns for her second season as head coach of the Lady Bulldogs while LaTaryl Williams returns for his second season as assistant coach.
The Lady Bulldogs open their season at East Central on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Lady Bulldogs open the home campaign on Monday, Nov. 4 at 6 p.m. verus Baton Rouge, La.
