Lady Bulldogs pull out dramatic 69-68 win over Northwest Lady Rangers

GOODMAN --- Freshman guard Katie Powers hit a shot with :03.5 left to give the Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs the 69-68 win over the Northwest Mississippi Community College Lady Rangers.

Sophomore forward Jalaceia Smith had a double-double in the game finishing with 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs who improved to 5-5 overall and 5-4 in the MACCC North Division.

Northwest led 16-14 after one period and then outscored the Lady Bulldogs, 19-13, in the second quarter to hold a 35-27 led at halftime. The Lady Bulldogs then outscored the Lady Rangers, 21-10, in the third to lead 48-45 after three periods. Northwest outscored the Lady Bulldogs 23-21 in the final period, but it wasn't enough as the Lady Bulldogs pulled out the one-point win.

Jordyn Manning finished with 15 points while Gabrielle Bunch had 11 points with three three-pointers and Morgan Williams had 10 points.

Holmes shot 50.9 percent from the floor (28-of-55), 45.5 percent from the three-point line (5-of-11) and 80 percent from the free throw line (8-of-10).
