Lady Bulldogs head to NJCAA National Tournament as No. 5 seed
The bracket for the 2024 NJCAA Women's Soccer Division II National Tournament has been revealed, the No. 5 ranked Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs are the No. 5 seed in the tournament and will begin pool play on Sunday, Nov. 17 in Huntsville, Alabama. The tournament runs from Nov. 17-23.
The Lady Bulldogs, now 15-4-2 on the season, received an at-large bid to the tournament and are making their fifth straight appearance in the tournament. Holmes joins 11 other schools in the 2024 NJCAA Division II National Tournament at John Hunt Park and Joe Davis Stadium in Huntsville. District champions with an automatic berth include: Rock Valley (IL), Midwest; Anne Arundel (MD), East; Northwest, Gulf South; Phoenix (AZ), West; Johnson County (KS); St. Charles (MO), Central; Heartland (IL), Great Lakes; Pensacola State (FL), South Atlantic. Pima (AZ), Schoolcraft (MI) and Scottsdale (AZ) are the other at large teams.
Holmes will play in Pool D with No. 4 seed Phoenix and No. 9 seed Schoolcraft. Holmes will play Phoenix at 5:45 p.m. on Sunday and Schoolcraft at 5:45 p.m. on Monday.
Of the 12 teams in the tournament, the Lady Bulldogs have played three of them. Holmes fell to Northwest twice, once in the regular season and on Saturday in the region/district finals. Holmes defeated Pensacola in Florida and fell to Heartland at Senatobia.
The remaining pools include: Pool A, No. 1 Northwest, No. 8 Scottsdale and No. 12 St. Charles; Pool B, No. 2 Johnson County, No. 7 Rock Valley and No. 11 Anne Arundel; and Pool C, No. 3 Heartland, No. 6 Pima and No. 10 Pensacola.
Winners of each pool will advance to the semifinals. The semifinals will be played on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. with the national championship on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 12 p.m.
