RIDGELAND --- The No. 4 Holmes Lady Bulldogs picked up a 2-1 win here Friday over the No. 10 Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Lady Bulldogs in MACCC action.
Holmes, now 9-1 and 4-1 in the MACCC, will travel to Southwest on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
The Lady Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the 41st minute when Akala Jacobs scored on an assist from Tyler Grace Sims.
Holmes went up 2-0 in the 59th minute when Kaylee Avant headed in an assist from Maddie Caldwell.
Gulf Coast's only score came in the 72nd minute.
Aly Vancor got the start and went 45 minutes and had one save. Lilly Callum played the final 45 minutes and had five saves and had one goal against in the match.
Against East Central last Friday, the Lady Bulldogs fell behind 2-0 early but scored three straight goals for the win.
Tyler Grace Sims, Zion Causey and Mallory Sutton each had goals in the match. Sims had two assists and Sidney Clare Sing added the other.
