Bulldogs bounce back with 84-73 win over Southwest Bears
GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs bounced back here Monday night with a 84-73 win over the Southwest Mississippi Community College Bears after losing two during the Thanksgiving break.
With the win, the Bulldogs went to 6-2 overall and begin North Division play on Thursday night versus East Mississippi in Goodman at 8 p.m. The game can be seen at holmesathletics.ihigh.com.
The Southwest Bears took a even point lead with 6:26 left in the first half and increased the lead to 15 points with 3:11 to play in the first half. The Bulldogs then went on a 9-0 run to pull with six with 1:58 to go in the half before Southwest scored six straight to hold a 49-37 halftime lead.
The Bulldogs battled in the second half and brought the score to 53-50 with 14:18 to play in the game and took a 60-59 lead with 8:37 to play. Holmes increased the lead to nine with 5:42 to go and 11 with 3:11 to play.
DeAndre Scott led the Bulldogs with 19 points while Torrance Rowe had 18 points, Deangelo Priar 16 and Demarcus Lewis 14.
