Bulldogs have no trouble with Tigers in North Division game winning 84-45
GOODMAN -- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs held a 42-19 lead at halftime and went on to easily defeat the Coahoma Community College Tigers, 84-45, here Thursday night in a key North Division contest.
With the win, the Bulldogs went to 14-6 overall and 6-3 in the North Division. The Bulldogs travel to Mississippi Delta on Monday night. The game can be watched online at holmesathletics.ihigh.com.
The Bulldogs jumped out quickly on the Tigers and held a 15-5 lead with 15:30 to play in the first after a three-pointer from DeAndre Scott. The lead grew to 16 after Kenitric Gillum hit a free throw, 18 after a Torrance Rowe layup and 21 after a Marcus Harper three-pointer with 1:19 left in the half. The Bulldogs led 42-19 at halftime.
The Tigers pulled to within 15 at 45-30 after a bucket by Alex Thompson with 15:20 to play in the game. Scott hit a shot with 10:40 to play that increased the lead to 28 at 58-30 and went to 38 with three minutes to play on a bucket by Kaleb Knight. The Bulldogs increased the lead to 39 just before the game ended.
Rowe led the Bulldogs with 16 points while Demarcus Lewis had 12 and Scott had 10. Lewis led the Bulldogs with eight rebounds. Holmes outrebounded the Tigers, 50-36, including 36 defensive rebounds.
