Rangers complete season sweep of Bulldogs, 64-59

GOODMAN --- Northwest Mississippi Community College held an 11-point lead at halftime and went on to defeat the Holmes Community College Bulldogs, 64-59, in the North Division contest here Thursday night.

With the loss, the Bulldogs fell to 15-7 overall and 7-4 in the North Division. The Bulldogs finish the regular season Thursday at Itawamba. Game time is 8 p.m.

With 13 minutes to play in the first half, the game was tied at seven. Northwest took a five-point lead with 9:15 to play in the first half on a bucket by Darius Woods. The Bulldogs took the lead at 18-17 on a three-point by DeAndre Scott with 6:24 to play in the first half. North then retook the lead at 21-20 on a bucket by Dominique Harris with 3:40 to play and held an 11-point lead at halftime, 32-21.

The second half was no better for the Bulldogs as the Rangers increased their lead to as much as 17 points at 52-35. With 6:49 to play, Deangelo Priar took the game in his hands and brought the Bulldogs back within striking distance after he connected with four three-pointers in the last seven minutes of the game. The last three brought the score to 63-57 with :32.9 left on the clock.

Priar led the Bulldogs with 26 points, the only Bulldog in double figures. Emmanuel Dias led the Bulldogs in rebounds with 10 while Priar had eight. Torrance Rowe had nine assists in the game.
