Bulldog golf heads to MACJC State Tournament in Laurel

Laurel's Dixie Golf Club will be the site of the MACJC State Tournament on Sunday and Monday. The Holmes Community College Bulldogs are battling for a spot in the Region XXIII Tournament as a team or by placing individuals in the tournament.

Jones County Junior College will serve as host of the event.

The tournament begins with tee times off of No. 1 at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday and there will be an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Monday.

Individually, the Bulldogs have been led by Trey Johnson, who is 24th in the state with an average of 81.50. Other individuals scorers are Taylor Worsham, 86.75; Chase Ward, 89.93; Tyler James, 90.13; and Ben Herrington, 90.50.

The team finished in 10th place in the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Tournament; ninth in the Hinds Community College Tournament; 10th in the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Tournament; and ninth in the East Mississippi Community College Tournament last week.

Teams and individuals are playing for a chance to compete in the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament, which will be played April 22-23 at Dancing Rabbit and the Azaleas course in Philadelphia. East Central will serve as the regional tournament host.
