Bulldogs edge one step closer to hosting MACJC State Tournament with win over ICC

FULTON -- The Holmes Community College Bulldog soccer team used a goal in the 80th minute by Jack Winston and penalty kick save from goalie Charlie Hancock to get by Itawamba Community College, 2-1, here Friday afternoon.

With the win, the Bulldogs went to 10-2-1 on the season and 4-2-1 in the North Division. The Bulldogs will play East Central Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. If the Bulldogs win against East Central, they will North Division champions and will host the MACJC State Tournament at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland.

Itawamba took the 1-0 lead in the 13th minute. Holmes tied the game on a Goliday goal and assist from Drew Pegues.

Winston then scored in the second half on an assist from Pegues.
