Lady Bulldogs begin preseason practice for 2012-13 campaign
With only returning player from the 2011-12 team that went to both the state and region tournaments, first-year Head Coach Jamilah Andrews will relying heavily on sophomore Jessica Miles and newcomers to lead this year's team.
Andrews, who was named head coach following former Head Coach Ronnie Aldy's retirement, has Miles, a sophomore forward from Kosciusko, returning to the squad.
Newcomers include: Jasmine Edwards, freshman, guard, Horn Lake; Tamia Grady, freshman, guard, Little Rock, Ark.; Dasha Adams, freshman, guard, Vacherie, La.; DeNesha Dillard, freshman, guard, Horn Lake; Paris Jenkins, freshman, forward, Clinton; Karla Levy, freshman, guard/forward, Pickens; Taylor Williams, sophomore, guard, Pearl; Alexius Giles, freshman, guard, Pearl; Kristina Trigg, freshman, forward, Brandon; Krystal Baker, freshman, forward, Jackson; and Shanese Carter, freshman, forward, Brandon.
The Lady Bulldogs finished the season at 17-7 overall after falling to the Lady Indians of Itawamba Community College in the Region XXIII Tournament semi-finals. The Lady Bulldogs defeated Pearl River to advance to the semis. In the first round of the MACJC State Tournament, the Lady Bulldogs fell to Jones County Junior College.
The Lady Bulldogs open the 2012-12 season on Nov. 1 versus Copiah-Lincoln Community College. Gametime is 6 p.m. in Goodman.
