Dillard hits eight three-pointers to help the Lady Bulldogs go to 3-1 on the season

DECATUR --- Holmes Community College freshman guard Denesha Dillard hit seven three-pointers in the first half and another in the second half to help the Lady Bulldogs pull off the 79-77 win over East Central.

With the win, the Lady Bulldogs went to 3-1 on the season. The Lady Bulldogs return to action on Thursday night versus the Pearl River Lady Wildcats at 5 p.m. Holmes defeated the Lady Wildcats in Poplarville, 54-51. The game can be watched live at holmesathletics.ihigh.com.

Shanese Carter gave the Lady Bulldogs their first lead double-digit lead of the game with 11:45 to play in the first half when she made a free throw. Dasha Adams hit a three-pointer to make it 23-10 with 11:20 to play in the first half and the lead continued to grow as much as 24 points when Tamia Grady hit a jumper with 6:29 to play in the first half. The Lady Bulldogs led 48-25 at halftime.

Holmes jumped out to a 50-25 lead with 18:48 to play in the game on a bucket from Krystal Baker. At that point the Lady Warriors begin inching back and brought the score to 67-66 on a free throw from Jakela Johnson with 4:42 to play. 

East Central took a 68-67 with 4:21 to play in the game on a layup from Reneisha Evans. Grady tied the game right back at 68 all seconds later. Baker's free throw put the Lady Bulldogs back up 69-68 with 2:41 to play, and the Lady Bulldgos hung on for the win. Dillard hit a layup with 1:53 to go to put the Lady Bulldogs up 76-71.

Dillard led the Lady Bulldogs with 30 points. To go with the eight three-pointers she had three two-pointers. Grady had 16 points and Jessica Miles had 10. Grady led in rebounds with five while Miles, Baker and Taylor Williams each had four rebounds each.
