RAYMOND --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs picked up a 3-0 win here Tuesday to secure their fifth MACCC title in the last seven years.
Holmes finished the regular season, 15-1 overall, and 10-1 in the MACCC. Holmes will serve as the host of the women's and men's Region 23 Tournament Nov. 5 and 7 at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland. More information will be made available later.
The Lady Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute when Maddie Caldwell scored on a penalty kick. Holmes led 1-0 at halftime.
The Lady Bulldogs made it 2-0 in the 60th minute when Brooklynn Samonski scored on an assist from Tyler Grace Sims. The final score came in the 86th minute when Emma Korhonen scored on an assist from Rosamaria Ibarra.
Aly Vancor got the start in goal and had no saves in 45 minutes. Lilly Callum played the final 45 and had one save.
